It has been seen that audiences are crazy about biopic movies and filmmakers are also more interested in real stories than the fictional ones. It is beneficial for filmmakers as they get a ready-made story, plus a lot of buzzes as well.

The hit formula has been used many times and it will be continued in Bollywood with numbers of the biopic in line.

While people are waiting for Biopic releases like 83, Sardar Udham Singh, Sam Manekshaw, and many more.

Here we have created a list of Bollywood biopics that failed to impress the audience at the box office. It is probably because of the poor direction of not enough buzz in the audience.

1. Mangal Pandey: The Rising

Mangal Pandey shows the biopic of one of the first revolutions against East Indian Company. Starring Aamir Khan and Rani Mukherji in the lead role, the movie was criticized for inaccuracy.

It gets mixed reviews from critics and is considered a box office failure.

2. Daddy

Daddy is the story of gangster Arun Gawli. Arjun Rampal was appreciated for his tremendous performance in the movie.

Sadly, the movie failed to impress the audience in the same way as it impressed critics and movie analytics.

3. Main Aur Charles

Randeep Hooda has impressed the audience with his acting skills, apart from Sarabjit, he has been part of a few other biopics as well.

In the 2015 movie Main Aur Charles, he played the notorious killer Charles Sobhraj. His performance was appreciated by fans but the movie tanked at the box office.

4. Veerappan

Ram Gopal Varma created another Gangster story Veerappan who was the Indian Bandits and active for almost 36 years. He was famous for kidnapping big politicians for ransom.

While Ram Gopal Varma has made many gangster films, this has the least buzz among all.

5. Rakta Charitra

Surely, Rakta Charitra was not the movie that should be praised by everyone. The movie is famous for showing graphic violence.

It is also a biopic of Paritala Ravi from Andhra Pradesh who is accused of many murders. The movie was released in 2 parts but failed at the box office.

6. Rang Rasiya

Rang Raisa is the story of Indian painter Raja Ravi Varma who made paintings of God in human form.

Due to the late release of the movie, the movie lost its buzz and became a box office failure.

7. Azhar

While M.S. Dhoni’s biopic was in making process, filmmakers decided to create a biopic of another former Indian skipper named Azhar.

Emraan Hashmi was seen playing the title character in the movie. However, it failed to impress the audience because of too many subplots.

8. Sarbjit

Sarabjit is one of the finest Bollywood biopics for which Randeep Hooda went through a dramatic transformation.

The movie was criticized for making the scenes too dramatic. While the movie received positive reviews, it failed to generate ticket sales.

9. Hawaizaada

Hawaizaada reveals the story of Indian inventor Shivkar Bapuji Talpade who has created a flying machine aka Aeroplane before Wright brothers. The movie didn’t get love and support from Indian fans.

10. Khelein Hum Jee Jaan Se

Little you know about the Ashutosh Gorawwiker directed period drama Khelein Hum Jee Jaan Se.

The movie featuring Abhishek Bachchan and Deepika Padukone is a biopic of Surya Sen who led the Chittagong uprising. The movie failed because of lengthy writing.

11. Thackeray

Nawazuddin Siddiqui was seen playing the role of Balasaheb Thackeray in the movie Thackey.

The movie is a political drama that shows Thackeray’s journey in his political career.

Shraddha Kapoor made headlines when she signed to play the biopic of Haseena Parkar.

13. Taj Mahal: An Eternal Love Story

Karan Johar has announced the movie Takht that shows the story of the Mughal dynasty.

In 2005, director Akbar Khan also tried to show the story of the Mughal Dynasty with the movie Taj Mahal: An Eternal Love Story. The movie failed to make an impact on the box office.

Bhagat Singh is one most loved freedom fighter whose story influenced many filmmakers to direct a movie on him. For instance, there are three and a half movies on Bhagat Singh if we include Rang De Basanti.

However, Saheed starring Bobby Deol has the lowest collection of all the Bhagat Singh movies.

15. Anna

Anna Hazare became famous after his movement against the government. It might seem like people wanted to know more about him.

But the biopic made on him by Shashank Udapurkar tanked at the box office.
